Spaced repetition
Seeing every vocabulary word every day spends most of your study time on words you already know. Leaving a word alone for too long means you may have to learn it again from scratch.
A spaced-repetition system sits between those two extremes. It adjusts the gap between reviews of a specific card based on how that card has been going for you, so review timing keeps changing as you keep studying. Ailelo uses FSRS to schedule vocabulary review.

The scheduler
Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler
FSRS is a modern spaced-repetition scheduling system designed to predict when a learner is likely to need another review. Rather than placing every card on the same fixed schedule, it adapts intervals using the learner’s review history.
In practice that means the schedule is built per card, not per deck. A word you keep recalling without hesitation earns longer gaps. A word you keep missing returns while it still has a chance of sticking. As your history with an item grows, the estimate of when you’ll need it again keeps being revised.
FSRS is an open scheduling algorithm used by more than one study tool. Ailelo uses it to schedule vocabulary review inside your Study Tracks.
The review loop
Work through the words that are ready for review inside your Study Track.
Your response to each card tells Ailelo how well that item is holding.
FSRS revises the interval for that card using its own review history.
It reappears at the point where another review is worth your time.
The point isn’t only that the scheduling is handled for you. It’s that vocabulary review sits inside the same guided study system as the rest of your practice, using the same material, instead of being a deck you have to remember to maintain.

Recognition is one step. The same vocabulary can later appear in AI audio language lessons, short written exercises, guided study sessions, and spoken conversation practice. Not every word appears in every mode: what a session uses depends on your material and what you choose to practice.
